The Brettl Residence
The Brettl family wanted to create a craftsman style home out of their small tract house built in the early 1980s. The exterior of the house was transformed by adding large overhangs and corbels, new windows and new stucco, and a tumbled paved driveway and walkway. We replaced the living room with a smaller sitting area with an alcove and bay window while enlarging the family room by 80 square feet. The family room now has 10 foot ceilings, a new fireplace and an entertainment cabinet with bookshelves. The new kitchen is 300 square feet, almost three times the original size. It has 10 foot high ceilings, 9 foot high custom cabinets with glass inserts, stone counters and procelain tile flooring.
